Strike causes disruption at Frankfurt airport

Around 300 flights have been cancelled at Frankfurt airport today due to a second day of strikes by apron control tower workers over wage demands.

The GdF trade union called on 200 workers to strike after failing to reach a pay deal with airport operator Fraport, with almost 300 flights cancelled as a result of the industrial action.

Qantas to defer Dreamliner delivery

In addition, the carrier has deployed the third refurbished B747 featuring A380-style seats.

Chief executive of the carrier, Alan Joyce, said the deferrals, which were "due to manufacturer delays" will help the carrier reduce projected capital expenditure from AUD$2.5 billion (US$2.6 billion) to AUD$2.3 billion (US$2.4 billion).

JetBlue, Japan Airlines start interline agreement

JetBlue and Japan Airlines’ interline agreement is now effective.

It connects JetBlue’s passengers to Tokyo’s Narita International Airport, where JAL’s hub is located. JAL flies to many major cities from Tokyo including Bangkok, Beijing, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Seoul, Shanghai and Taipei.

JAL offers service to its hub from JFK, LAX and Chicago’s O’Hare. It also flies to Tokyo-Haneda from San Francisco. Ryanair is to introduce a 25p levy on every passenger to cover the cost of the emissions trading scheme.
