Birmingham Airport is to have a new airline (formerly
Birmingham Executive, Birmingham European, Brymon European,
Maersk UK) with a new image as Duo breaks away from
its British Airways franchise operation and becomes
a separate carrier.
Duo will serve 11 major European destinations from
Birmingham airport as it positions itself between traditional
full service high-fare carriers and the no frills budget
airlines.
Duo takes to the skies officially on 1 November and
the airline's schedules include flights to Berlin, Copenhagen,
Geneva, Gothenburg, Lyon, Oslo, Milan, Nice, Stockholm,
Stuttgart and Vienna. Duo will also launch four routes
from Edinburgh Airport on 1 November to Milan, Geneva,
Oslo and Zurich.
Duos setup is particularly business-focused.
Passengers can expect stylish and efficient in-flight
service in a single-class cabin with comfortable leather
seats, with a choice of meals, free drinks and newspapers
and business class legroom and access to
airport lounges but the airline will be selling tickets
on the one-way basis favoured by no-frills airlines
such as Easyjet. Its destinations are primarily business
cities and flight timings are suited to business travellers.
