High speed train service operator Eurostar reports
it has recorded the best punctuality figures in its
10-year history.
The service provides the link between London / Ashford
and various rail stations in France and Belgium. Eurostar
claims that on certain weeks in July its scheduled trains
arrived on time or early and on some days the trains
reported 100 per cent punctuality. The main Eurostar
competitors, the airlines operating flights on the London-Paris
and London-Brussels routes average 77 per cent punctuality,
according to the Civil Aviation Authority.
Eurostar reports, it has steadly improved its punctuality
since the opening of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link in
September 1993 and the performance has paid off with
an increase in passengers who are enjoying a seamless
city-centre to city-centre journeys without the worry
of airport delays.
