The business travel industry is bursting back to life, with many firms returning to the office and face to face meetings.

Signs of the industry’s recovery are all around us, whether that be the re-introduction of significant airline routes that were stopped during covid or the re-opening of airport terminals that were forced to close. Read on for a round-up of what’s bringing the Wayte Travel team joy.

The Elizabeth line opening

On the 24th of May 2022, the Elizabeth line officially opened. The 73-mile line in the southeast of England provides a welcome addition of 10% to London’s busy train network. The line is expected to increase the efficiency of international travel to and from the capital, with trains from Central London to Heathrow airport costing £12.70 during peak times. [BBC News]

Liverpool airport now has increased connectivity with the rest of the world as they welcomed Lufthansa in May [Simple Flying] as well as the introduction of a Heathrow to Austin route by [Virgin Atlantic] and a Portland to London route by British Airways [Airways Magazine].

Removal of restrictions

We’ve seen more and more countries announcing the removal of Covid-19 entry restrictions in the past few weeks, most notably Italy removing all Covid-19 entry requirements from the 1st of June [Wayte Travel Twitter] as well as South Korea lifting their quarantine requirement for non-vaccinated foreign arrivals on the 8th of June [FCO].
